Head-To-Toe: Ingredient Must-Haves in Your Shower Arsenal

Do you ever wonder about the ingredients in your shower products? More importantly, do you know which ones work best?

We’ve done the research so you wouldn’t have to

  • For hair-flip ready locks

When looking for shampoo that is effective in removing dirt and grime from your hair, look for lauryl glucoside. It is a gentler alternative to sulfates, a very common ingredient that has been said to cause irritation. For conditioner, coconut oil remains the gold standard. It increases the flexibility of your hair by improving its strength and best of all – it’s natural.

  • For that no-filter, no make-up look

To get rid of irritating acne, look for a facial cleanser with ingredients like salicylic acid, sodium sulfacetamide or benzoyl peroxide. These three clean and help clear up the skin. Also look for emollients like petrolatum, or humectants like glycerin. These two ingredients hold moisture in your skin, keeping it hydrated.

  • For clean and supple skin

Polyethylene glycols and acyl-polyglycoside are gentle detergents in body cleansers or soaps that remove dirt and unfriendly organism from your skin and help it retain its moisture. For dry skin, there are the moisturisers Lanolin and paraffin.

  • For a healthy and pH-balanced intimate area

  1. Immortelle is an extract of Helichrysum italicum. Also known as the Everlasting Flower, it is a natural antioxidant that fights free radical damage and stimulates cellular regeneration.
  2. SyriCalm™ is an extract of Phragmites communis. Ideal for the sensitive intimate area, it relieves common irritating feminine discomforts such as itch and redness. All whilst protecting the skin’s barrier function.
  3. Deoplex® keeps the intimate area fresh by neutralising odour. It is often used in other personal care products like deodorants and hand washes. Learn more about these three ingredients.
  4. Last but not least, Biolin – a prebiotic found in some feminine washes – helps the friendly organisms in the intimate area thrive. Learn more about how prebiotics benefit the intimate area.

These four natural ingredients – when used together – soothe, care and protect the intimate area and support its natural balance.

There you have it. We’ve just given you a primer on what’s good in your shower products. Feel free to do a little bit of your own research and the next time you go to the store, remember to spend a few minutes to read the labels on products before heading to the counter.
